Local Color - the movie

local-colot_500x146shkl Last night the Oil Painters of America hosted a screening of George Gallo's new movie Local Color. Mr. Gallo, the writer and director, gave a short introduction and after the movie answered questions. This is a move by an artist, for artist, about art. Beautifully filmed and well acted. If you would like to have a screening in your town before the July-August theatrical release go to the website http://www.localcolormovie.com sign up and request a screening.

Phaedra, Henry V, and Milk

phaedra Las Cruces, NM

We enjoyed the Community Theatre's production of Racine's Phaedra. And several nights later we were thrilled when The Acting Company and Guthrie Theatre presented Henry V for one night only at the Hershel Zohn Theatre on the New Mexico State University campus. We watched Kenneth Branagh's Henry V on DVD the night before to prepare us for an evening of Shakespeare. The small stage came alive with action as the actors recreated the famous Battle of Agincourt. The company founded in 1974 has performed for over two million people in forty-eight states and nine foreign countries.

milk The next night we saw the movie Milk, which is an Oscar winning screenplay, at the lovely Fountain Theatre. -L
